Cheers John, I guess the e28 master cylinder applies to the american spec cars.

Sounds to me , and I have experienced this very same problem, with my 2002 cabriolet manual pump, if yours is manual the rod that pushes the plate which draws the fuel from the tank on mine wore through the plate and obviously could not function any more, take the pump off and have a look at the rod and plate. HI, It might do, but the master cyls on LH drive cars are down on the floor. That's the problem with info that is specific to either LHD or RHD markets.
