I thought about it for a long time Kev. Its funny because a friends father who ran a BMW dealership in Denmark in the 1970's had a white Touring and did exactly the same to his car from new. I guess it does look 'period'. What is you chassis number Kev? Mines 3440240. So it's the 240th made. I've also owned numbers 242 - 511 - 26 - and a couple of others I don't recall off the top of my head.

I chose the wheels because they are very similar to early Alpinas, plus it's easier & cheaper to get sticky tyres for 14" & also the E30 325i brakes will fit inside them, if I can find a good way of centralising the disc on the hub. The 325 discs have a 66mm centre hole & the 2002 hub is 60mm, so a bit of engineering is needed. (Or a different disc). My chassis number is 3441492. Are there any later ones known than this???

Oops I've just noticed you attached two photo's Kev. You're lovely looking Touring has the 72 type mirror and chrome windscreen wipers. Dealer fit roof mounted antenna. Be great to get our cars together for some pics. Is it lowered slightly also? We should start the Chamonix white Touring club. best Paul Hill
I like the back end in black - used to do this on the old MK1 Escorts. Those were the days..........
