6 SERIES SEATS IN A 2002

HI ALL NEW TO THIS SITE.
IVE GOT A 2002 TARGA 1975 WHICH I USE MOST WEEKENDS AND A 2002TII 73 (IN BITS WILL GET ROUND TO GETTING IT ON THE ROAD SOON!!!) I CAN REMEMBER SEEING SOMEWHERE A 2002 WITH SEATS FROM A 6 SERIES FRONT AND REAR. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH MODEL THEY ARE FROM AND IF THEY JUST BOLT IN OR ANY MODIFACTIONS NEEDED? REGARDS



I have done it with my 02. I have fitted both front and rear seats, but the job is not finished yet.

Front seats;
I used the existing 02 seat runners bolted to the underside of the 6er seats. Only problem is that the bolt holes on the 6er that go across the seat base are 5mm to 8mm wider apart than the original 02's. Also, the seat sits slightly further down, so what I have done is I made up some spacers using 25x25mm box section steel. These run where the original seat runners are (and the runners bolt onto them), but what I have done is to offset the holes (to the side) by 3 to 5mm. The other holes are fitted with captive nuts placed in the centre of the box section. I have yet to fit them, but hope to do it in a couple of weeks time.

Back seats;
I have had to cut out quite a lot of fiberglass from the area where the wheel arch intrudes into the cabin. I started off gradually, using a saw and a hacksaw as well. I have also used the original centre console too. The only areas that need to be fabricated are the top of the rear parcel tray (to fit around the top of the seats backs) with 18mm MDF and getting it covered in a suitable material, ie leather etc. The other place is beside the rear quarter panels and seats as there is a 25mm gap. You could use foam covered in material and shape it to match the seat and quarter panel contours.

It took me about 2 hours to fit the seats.
I have some photos on my computer, but it is away being fixed but will be able later if anyone wants them.
